Tosiasiassa olin viikon pääkaupungissa rotaatiovaihtoa suorittamassa eli edellinen työpari lähti takaisin kotiin ja seuraavana päivänä tuli uusi kokelas testaamaan hermojaan mun seuraan :) ! Kokonaisuudessa meidän projektissa on 9 henkilöä, joiden komennukset on 4-12 viikkoa.
Participants in our last training session . |
Hola again my dear friends! few weeks has passed in more or less deep waters, but Im on the surface again. Actually I have been in the capitol, Asuncion for nearly 10 days for rotation of our group. My first co-worker Zdenko went back home last Thursday and I got a new partner on Friday from Bulgaria. All together there are 9 people in our group working on this project in Paraguay.
So one week ago we finally got the course of Aquatic Rescue finished. I do have to admit thet when we planned the schedule, I dont think neither of us knew how exhausting the course will be for us. We worked for a month every single day - so there were really no free days - none! So once we were done, it really felt like that as well. But now its time to consentrate on other things on the project although I still have few things to do with these guys since not all of them passed the course.
Kurssi koostui alkuun teoriasta. Aika surku hupaisaa ajatella, että me oltiin uimavalvojina kurssilaisille. Osan suorituksista me keskeytettiin, koska sisulla oltais menty ehkä loppuun asti, mutta uinti alkoi muistuttaa enemmän sukeltamista!!!
So we begun with the theory of Water rescue and first aid. After about 1,5 weeks we went to the pool first time with them. this was kind of a surprize to us since they were ment to swim 400meters and not all of them could do that and for few we had to tell them to stop since their performance started to remind more diving, not swimming. And the funny part was that since Zdenko was the one to evaluate this training, I was there on the side of the pool, ready to jump in if needed!
But fortunately they really improved their swimming during the course so we can be proud of them and ofcourse of ourselfs!
Eli muutamia kuvia matkan varrelta / Few pictures from the course....
Kaksi tietokonetta aina kaytossa. Toisessa on esitys englanniksi ja toisessa espanjaksi.
Two computeres needed. The other one has the presentation in english and other in spanish.
Yksi, kaksi kolme...ja potils kaantyy kyljelleen hienosti. Harjoittelut tuottaa tulosta.
One, two, three... and the victim in on her side. It is good to see practising has paid the effort.
Elvytys on kaiken alku ja juuri :) Resuscitation is just one of the basic things to practise.
Oltiin vihdoin harjoittelemassa joessa. Vesi on lammin, innokkaat kurssilaiset ja sitten me naytetaan esimerkkeja ja harjoitellaan ja harjoitellaan ja ja ja ...
And we finally got in to the river. Water was nice and warm, paricipants were enthusiastic and then we just showed what to do and they practise once, twice....
Ja luulot pois innokkaimmilta. Kylla se menee myos talleen.
Just to show that it not so difficult...
Varmista, etta autettava saadaan turvallisesti rannalle ja aloita ensiapu.
Make sure you get the victim safely to the shore and then start the first aid.
Kurssilaist muistuttivat loppupuheessa, etta ovat oppineet myos englantia. Taisin muutamaan otteeseen antaan palautetta, etta muuten meni jo ihan ok, mutta muistakaa avata hengitystiet kunnolla eli OPEN THE AIRWAY.
On the graduation event the participants gave a short speach as well and I truly knew that I had been repeating myself "little" when giving fed back... They told that they learned at least one thing in english and tht was OPEN THE AIRWAY :)
Alkuverryttelyt rannalla. Warming up.
Loppukokeet. The final exams.
On the last night we had the press visiting. They wanted to make stories about this training and I was happy for the local brach to have such visibility. Excellent!
Jotain iloa elamaan! Enjoy the ride!
Loppu harjoituksesta. The final simulations.
Finaalipaivana oltiin teoriakokeiden jalkeen kurssilaisten kanssa grillaamassa ja ihmeteltiin miten kuukausi on kulunut hurjaa vauhtia. Kiitokseksi saatiin kurssilaisilta hienot paidat, molemmille oma hieno nimikoitu muisto! Kiitos siita!
On the final day after the theory exams we had a BBQ with the participants. As a gift and thank you, the participants gave us these t-shirts. They are really nice, thanks!
Joten eka osio projektista alkaa olla loppusuoralla ja toinen on kaynnistynyt samanaikaisesti edellisen rinnalle.
So the first part of our projct is in the end and the next phase is already started at the same time.
