Töissähän täällä ollaan :) ja edellinen viikonloppu meni jo kurssin parissa melkoisen aktiivisissa merkeissä.

Koulutuksen aiheena oli tajuton potilas ja kylkiasentoon kääntäminen sekä hiukan harjoittelimme jo isommalla porukalla potilaan kääntöä ja puhuimme siirroista mm. rankalaudalle.

Porukka on tosi motivoitunutta ja vaikka tulkin käyttö hiukan hidastaa opetusta niin on tää vaan niin mun juttu! Erityisesti käytännön harjoittelu on kivaa ja on mukavaa huomata, miten kurssilaiset oivaltavat juttuja.

So working!      This is actually what we do here even though my previous writings have maybe given an other kind of impression. We started the course a week ago but last weekend was really the fist time when we got into action.

Our aim for the day was an unconsciouss patient and how to actually give first aid which is recovery position. I have to admit thet even though it takes more time since we have to use an interputer but it only takes more time and thats it!!! Our participants are really active and eager to learn so I can only say that this is so great!!! I love teaching.

The presentations are in english for me and in spanish for the participants.

Kaikki esityksen on käännetty ensin englanniksi ja siitä espanjaksi. Materiaalin hiominen jatkuu viela kurssin päätyttyä, jotta se voidaan antaa käyttöön paikallisille tulevia kursseja varten.

Potilaan siirtoa ja kääntelyä. Suurin osa porukasta on jo eden hiukan harjoitelleet ensiapua, joten ihan kaikkea ei tarvitse aloittaa alusta tai ainakin on joku ryhmassa jolta kysella neuvoa.

On ollut myös hauskaa huomata erilaisuuksia paikallisten ensiapukäytäntöjen kanssa. Vuodon tyrehdyttäminen oli tunneista ehkä mielenkiintoisin, kun vertailtiin toimintamalleja... En ole koskaan miettinyt eroja isommin, mutta kyllä jotku jipoista oli aika pelottavia. Esimerkkinä pistovamma jalkapohjassa: puhdistus kuivaus ja steariinisinetti päälle tuntui tosi kummalliselta ja kehoitin kuitenkin toisenlaiseen toimintaan:) tosin kaikkea varmasti ei saa kitkettyä oman mielensä ja oppimansa mukaiseksi.

Handling the patient. Most of the group have at least some experience of first aid and that helps! They have someone to ask about the prosedures if any questions comes out later on when we have already finished the course.

It has also been interesting to notice the differences from the first aid procedures I have learned and what I teach. For example we had the lession about injuries; the wound care in general is different and even in Finland there are some old traditional ways to treat the wounds but this truly was something. I had a picture of a foot where you can see a puncture caused by a nail. One person said that he has been told to do a stearin seal (the hot liquid from candle) on top of the wound after the cleansing...  Well not exactly what I teach and I hope they have now an other option as well for the first aid in case something like this happens.

Well it has been interesting but next time something totally different ;)
