Luovuta verta - ole sankari!!!

We have visited numerous places and met lots of people. Here is few pics of what we have seen and maybe small stories as well... 

Last week we went to see the local blood bank. The place it self is located in the city hospital and is open 24/7. They have one bed and one room for the actual donating and then they have an other room for recovery if needed. All the equipment seem to be similar to what we have in Finland and I could actually think even donating myself here ( I did have a little suspision about the place before..).

They have all the needed equipment for manufactoring the blood there so they only send the tests to Asuncion to be sure the blood is safe to use. So the system is suprisingly similar to ours.

Zdenko was ready to donate since we were there but he was not allowed since the vaccination he had taken just before coming here... so maybe in few weeks I will have an other text when we go there again!

The funny part here is that they said that even if he could have donated that time that it would have taken a long time since there were 4 people ahead waiting... But we didnt see anyone there sitting or anyone donating... So I quess this is once again a mystery.

Joo-o! Paikallisen sairaalan yhteydessä toimii verenluovutus. Oltiin kierroksella tutustumassa toimintaan ja oli ihan mielenkiintoista. Paikka on pieni ja petejä yksi ja toisessa huoneessa on tilaa toipumiseen eli, jos sille on tarvetta.Verikeskus palvelee sairaalaa 24/7 ja käsitin, että periaatteessa luovuttajiakin voidaan ottaa vastaan vuorokauden ympäri. Luovutettava määrä tosin on 250-450ml eli poikkeaa sen osalta hiukan suomalaisesta toiminnasta. Verituotteet voidaan valmistaa paikanpäällä, mutta tarkistusta varten näytteet veristä lähetetään aina pääkaupunkiin Asuncioniin. Paikka oli tosi siisti ja voisin kuvitella itsekin paikassa verta luovuttavani. 

Työparini Zdenko olisikin luovuttanut vierailullamme, mutta ennen reissua otettu rokote esti luovutuksen. Ehkä lisää siis paikasta, jos sinne toiste eksymme. 

Hassua tosiin oli, kun kävimme tuolla niin paikka oli ihan autio. Kun kyselimme mahdollisuutta luovuttaa niin kertoivat, että nyt ei kannata jokatapauksessa jäädä odottamaan, koska jonossa on 4 ihmistä ennen meitä... Missään ei näkynyt ketään ja niin odotusaula kuin luovutuspaikkakin loisti tyhjyydellään.
